Rules

Round 1: Project Plan

Submit a project plan on the most innovative way to use one or more of the Penetron products in the design and construction of structures/elements.

The project plan must include the following:

  1. Title page
    • Name & Surname
    • University
    • Faculty
    • Degree
  2. Table of contents
  3. Introduction
    • • Write a brief description of your most innovative way to use one or more of the Penetron products in the design and construction of the structures/elements chosen.
    • • Explain why your idea is unique.
  4. Research
    Research used to support the construction of your model.
  5. Methodology
    • List and explain the steps on how you plan to construct a scaled model of your innovation. This methodology will be followed in order to build your scaled model should you qualify for round two (2).
    • Drawings of the model to be included in this section.
  6. Sources
    References to be listed using the Oxford method.
  7. Appendices
    Any relevant technical data, information and/or illustrations must be attached to this section of the project plan.

Submissions of the project plan must be emailed to competition@penetron.co.za before 11pm on the 31 March 2017.

Five (5) Architectural students and five (5) Engineering students will qualify for round two (2) of the competition. These finalists will be announced on the 7th April 2017. The announcement will be posted on www.penetron.co.za, Facebook (Penetron South Africa) and Twitter (@PenetronSA1). Each individual will also be notified via sms and email.

Round 2: Build a scale model of your innovation

A scaled model of the invention must be built. All Penetron products required can be collected from your nearest Penetron office. The products will be provided free of charge.

Please contact info@penetron.co.za to place an order for the product(s) you require. A lead-time of 48 hours must be given before the products can be collected. You will be contacted with collection information after your order has been processed and is ready for collection.

Submissions of the scale model must be handed in at your nearest Penetron office before 4pm on the 30th June 2017. Office addresses will be provided to the finalists.

The winners (one (1) Architectural student and one (1) Engineering student) will be announced on the 14th July 2017. The announcement will be posted on www.penetron.co.za, Facebook (Penetron South Africa) and Twitter (@PenetronSA1). The winners will receive a phone call to congratulate them. Additional information will be sent via email.
